以高斗枢《守郧纪略》所记为本,删其枝繁,取其主干,尽力廓清崇祯十四年八月至十七年郧阳攻守战始末真相,其记载与《明史》以及其他文人笔记相左的地方,亦着意说明,并辨析其正讹。
